yeah - rail fanninf? what is that? Aren't you supposed to tag another person now? It's fun to learn these things! Thanks for sharing

Since you both asked... railfanning is the chasing, watching, or photographing of trains--everything from tourist steam railroads to mainline freight to Amtrak. It's definitely a cult interest and a very specific form of nerdism. For reference, check out the film "The Station Agent." Even if you have no interest in railroads, the film is worth seeing...and it explains the hobby better than I could.
And since you two responded first...consider yourselves both tagged. Hah!

Thanks for playing, Charlie. You're a good sport.
And I LOVE that you put Nemo in the kids names you like.
Now I have to go IMDB Mariska Hargity. WHO?
Posted by: Sarah | May 25, 2005 at 08:33 AM
Sarah -
Mariska Hargitay is a long-time cast member of "Law & Order: SVU." She's the daughter of bombshell Jayne Mansfield and Hungarian bodybuilder Mickey Hargitay.

Tom Waits - "Little Trip to Heaven (On the Wings of Your Love)" was our first dance at our wedding. Sigh. Sure, it's from the debut album, one of two I've dubbed "the chick albums," and "Swordfishtrombones" is my favorite, but I loved the lyrics (still do) and it's easier to dance to than "Frank's Wild Years."
Re: railfanning - I've never heard of it, but I'm doing it, sort of. My 6-year-old is a huge trainiac. Would the movie you mentioned be considered at all family friendly?
I swear baldness is for men like having small boobs is for women. I think most women don't care at all about it (I know I don't). It's a non-issue for me; most people look great with the hair they were given (kind of like the boob thing, too).
This was a fun read. I love learning things like this about people. Maybe it's a writer thing. Maybe it's just an excuse to be nosy.

Urban D Kaye? I love it!
Gallagher (you know, the sledge-o-matic guy) said, women don't know what it's like to go bald. Going bald for a man is like having your tits fall off...a little bit at a time.
And excellent taste in names. My daughter's name is Tori. Actually Victoria. Family name, long story. She'll be a senior in high school this fall, and SHE started calling herself Tori when she was 11.

Yes, I'd say "The Station Agent" is pretty family-friendly. There's a li'l pot smoking and drinking tho. Not sure if that's an issue.
